Refuse truck will no longer pick up electronics. Many of you may be aware that Wisconsin passed an E-waste Recycling Law that became effective in January 2010. This law bans certain electronics from disposal in the landfill. The ban will become effective September 1, 2010. The banned electronics include:
* Computers
* Monitors
* Televisions and other video display devices
* Fax machines
* DVD and VCR players
* Printers
* Cell Phones
Outagamie County Department of Solid Waste will serve as one of many DNR registered electronics collectors. We have contracted a reputable recycler, Universal Recycling Technologies, to recycle the electronics we collect. The DNR has created a brochure explaining the new ban and all aspects of the new law.
